5Learning ObjectivesAssignments Completed that Address Pathway Outcomes
1. Read and listen critically and analytically, including identifying an argument’s major assumptions and assertions and evaluating its supporting evidence. At the very beginning I remember struggling with our first assignment, where we had to find evidences to support the subtopics of our main topic, using two academic and two media sources,I didn’t really analyze the evidence carefully at first so it wasn’t  well supported, and when i put everything together at the end,it didn’t make sense because I wasn’t focusing on my main claim, that experience showed me that reading carefully, analyzing evidence and deciding if it’s makes sense and is well supported is really important because it helps you truly understand what your talking about, figuring out what makes sense and only including  the necessary supporting evidence.
2. Write clearly and coherently in varied, academic formats (such as formal essays, research papers, and reports) using standard English and appropriate technology to critique and improve one’s own and others’ texts. The different  academic formats we have worked with has really helped me with having a better understanding in learning how to align my work in a more organized way ,because each format requires a different approach,  learning the format itself and breaking down each one formal essays taught me how to develop clear arguments and organize my ideas , Research papers helped me learn how to find and use evidence effectively to support my findings, and reports helped me how to show information in a clear and simpler way, overall writing in different formats also helped me understand how to adjust word choices, organizing my ideas, using evidences and getting my point across, it also helped me make my own work stronger and give feedback to others.
3. Demonstrate research skills using appropriate technology, including gathering, evaluating, and synthesizing primary and secondary sources.Using both academic and media sources has helped me improve my research.Academic sources gave me trustworthy information and media sources gave real life examples that made my work easier to relate to. Also to make sure my sources are credible and actually related to my topic, and putting information from different sources together has helped me link ideas and make my arguments stronger.
4. Support a thesis with well-reasoned arguments, and communicate persuasively across a variety of contexts, purposes, audiences, and media. The assignments in this class has helped me explain my ideas clearly, supporting them with evidence and showing why they matter by making my message more persuasive, working in different formats like essays articles, research papers and posters taught me how to present my ideas in different ways and how to make my message clear for different audiences.
5. Formulate original ideas and relate them to the ideas of others by employing the conventions of ethical attribution and citation. The work we’ve been doing in class has helped me learn how to develop my own ideas and connect them to the ideas of others in a responsible and thoughtful way, by using proper citation, i have learn how to give credit to sources, avoid plagiarism and build a strong supported argument ,as well using information from different sources to support my ideas, and just being honest with my work.
